Hi all,
It's likely that I'm going to find myself in Madison sometime during April
and would like to ride the IM Wisconsin bike course while I'm there.
I've never been to Madison, and know nothing about the city, so I'm
wondering about the type of roads that the course is on. Is it possible to
ride the entire course starting at Monona Terrace without the benefit of
road closures? Or, is the portion of the course that is actually located in
Madison out of the question for a lone rider? If riding all of it isn't
possible (or advisable) can anyone offer a suggestion for a spot along the
route where someone can park without bothering anyone - a park, school or
church parking lot or whatever?
Also, I can tell that most of the main loop is on rural roads, but what are
the roads generally like? Is there any portion that can't - or shouldn't -
be ridden without the benefit of closed roads and race-day traffic control?
Is any of it on highways or narrow roads with little room for cyclists?
Finally, does anyone know if the course has been marked by anyone and, if
so, how?
Thanks in advance,
John
