Hey guys/gals,
Well im in a sinking boat at the moment. The boat being a good college, which would greatly affect my future. Im a junior in high school next scool year, and i have my eyes on trying to get into a UC (university california) level school. Right now that aint happening. I just found out i got a 2 out of 5 on my ap. u.s. history test and i got a 3.75 gpa last semster. I dont play any sports that are provided by school. I tried them all from wrestling to football to volleyball, and i hated them all. But i have found a sport i love, and that i love to do everyday. That is the wonderful sport of cycling. I love my road bike. I turned to my roadbike to help me shape up and to meet new people, but now i am turning to it for a whole other reason, to get me into a good college. I want to start racing next spring season. I think racing can greatly affect my status when i apply for colleges, being everything else on the transcripts would be low. I know, my father even said this, you would have to be good at racing for it to matter on the transcripts, but this is the way i see it. Its like the cinderellaman movie, i have to do good, i HAVE TO, the weight of my future would be my inspiration. But, Before i start racing i have a problem which i need to tend to. I have no idea were i can start racing. Also, (the big problem) At the moment i have a weight of 210.5 lbs and i think that i need to be at about 165-175ish. To give an idea of my fitness level, I have been cycling for about 2 to 2 1/2 months and Last Saturday i did a metric ride (65miles, of which about 40 were in mountains) which included 2 big hills and gradual climbing, with a decent at the end, i did it in about 5 hours 7 minutes. And 2 weeks ago i did a 55 mile flat ride with a group with an average of 20.5mph, i did not get the time of that ride.
Does anybody know any good cycling diets, ive started researching diets, to try to decrease my weight 40-50 lbs, but im afraid the diets im looking at dont take in an avid cycler.
Also does anyone know were i can learn about cat-5 racing and how to get started and were?
Thank you for your time
