Setting up a new bike with TA Zephyr 46-34 and Campy ergo 10 speed shifting. Problems up front with a 2003 double Shimano 105. Can't adjust for big ring over shift. If over shift is corrected, it won't shift into big ring. (Over shift means chain falls off.)
Trying a Veloce 9 speed. A bit better, but still, it is sluggish going up, if limit screw is set to ensure no over shifting.
Would a Campy triple FD be ideal? If so, How do I set it up for use as a double?
What else might work?
Chain is new and well lubed. Has 100 miles on it now. Excellent chainline, new cranks.
Are there ramps and pins on the chainrings? I replaced some Campy rings with un-ramped/pinned Engagement Rings (isn't there another thread about cute names?) and the shifting was slower.

FWIW, I have a 46-34-22 combo on a road bike and use a bottom pull LX fder. I have to mount the cable on the opposite side of the mounting bolt but it works well. Perhaps a mountain bike fder, made for this size of chainring, would work.
