  1. I've got the option of getting an Ideal Cycle - Tonic model (Full suspension, disc brakes, 24 gears,
etc) as a long-service award. (There are other things I could choose as well, so I don't think it is
necessarily a hint to "get on my bike"😉.

Any views on the Ideal range of bikes? ideal-cycles.co.ukideal-cycles.co.uk

I don't seem to have seen them mentioned much in this NG......

That's because they're not Dawes Galaxies or recumbents. YAWN!

    ;-)

I've never heard of Ideal Bikes. I'm sure they didn't exist when I lived in St. Helens.

Its all Greek to me ;-) Or at least I think Ideal are a Greek manufacturer, I had an Ideal mountain
bike (a Safari I think) on holiday (in Greece) two years back. Other than being an old cro-mo model
and fairly heavy, it was solidly built and did the job and seemed reliable.

The main website appears to be idealbikes.netidealbikes.net
