  1. After a request (from Slacker, if memory serves,) an Internet Bike Shop Report:

Ordered a Fango with the red decals in 16.5", plus some other miscellaneous bits.

1.) Brian handled everything very well - from beginning to end. One small criticism: he neglected
to put my phone# on the package, so UPS didn't call me to inform me it was there (ship and hold
at local office.) I guessed right about how long it should take to ship, so that was a very
    small thing.

2.) Everything arrived exactly as ordered, packaged very nicely, with no damage.

3.) He matched the lowest price on every bit that I ordered, AND threw in some schwag for free.

4.) Shipping was DIRT CHEAP in comparison to some of the other guys. Since I saved so much on the
gear, I wouldn't have had a problem with higher shipping. It was just a bonus.

5.) Small hassle with the BB, but I think it was my fault. I did not specify a splined XT, so he
called me and asked, even while he was packaging the order. He didn't have one in stock, so
instead of holding the whole thing, he sent it out and promised to send the BB along at his cost
    for shipping.

One of the best mail order experiences I've had - they communicate very well there, and that's the
best thing. The fact that they score big on pricing is just the icing on the cake. Cambria? Price
    Point? Wheel World? Never again.

Gonna take the stickers off the bike tonight. Then I'll be ready to do the build up, after the local
    guy presses in the headset.

Hey, anyone want a CrMo DB Topanga frame, 18", to set up as a SS? 😉

Killer!! Good to hear of another great source, and extra bonus points for being local. Thanks
    for the post.

    Update:

A while ago, I said that BeyondBikes.com sucked. Well, when I went to get the headset they sent so I
could get the guy to press it in, I looked at the top, and felt that sinking feeling.

A cryptic " 1" " was penned into the top. Well, not so cryptic - more like "dammit, they sent me the
wrong diameter." So I opened it, and measured. Yup, one inch.

    [censored].

That means, of the three things I ordered, they got ONE right. Held the order for two weeks because
of no stock, called me to verify substitution, then called me AGAIN to do the very same
verification. With the very same answer, I might add. Pulled a bait-and-switch that worked slightly.
Top it all off with aggressive and generally [censored] customer service, and you've got a reason to never
go on-line to buy gear. All in all, the order I placed over a month ago still ain't right. If I had
been smart, I'd have cancelled with them and gone with Adrenaline.

Moral of the story: If your LBS can't or won't (the case for most of my purchases on-line for bike
stuff), then shop the IBS that'll do the job right the first time.

    Beyond Bikes ain't that shop.

WTF won't my LBS buy Cane Creek headsets? I just have no idea. He'll sell me a King for $135, but
    not a Cane Creek. Dumbass.
