  1. Woo hoo! Last report from comcast was that it might take till
thanksgiving to get our cable back online... but fortunately that was
an overstatement and we got it back on at lunchtime today. Now all
I've got to do is to wade through the two (three?) weeks worth of
unread messages... it took two hours to download all my newsgroups on
    a highspeed connection!

Now 'normal life' really has returned... we have power and drinkable
water and cable and a tank full of gasoline and a fridge/freezer full
of groceries... nothing like a hurricane to really make you appreciate
    the little things in life!

We're glad you're safe, any stories to tell about the ordeal? Must have
been a huge pain. No cable, a nightmare right there! (smile)

Actually the no-tv thing didn't really bother me... I could have quite
happily gone on without it for much longer - the only thing I really
missed was seeing the news every few days. And I missed the internet
    of course!

We had to boil our water for two weeks and we had no electricity for
eight days, so I had to cook on a little camp stove... fortunately our
five-day-cooler lived up to its specs - I emptied the freezer into it
on monday afternoon and it stayed cold all week long! So at least I
had some meat to cook and I didn't have to toss it all out like I did
last time round. There's nothing to make you appreciate a hot meal
like not knowing when you'll get to have another one! Our neighbours
have a charcoal grill so we pooled our resources and had a cookout
when their meat thawed out... and the next day I made a pot of chilli
on our camp stove, and the day after that they fired up their grill
and I roasted the pork loin and made a pan of caramel apples, and also
    a big pizza. Yummy!

  4. Welcome back Sweetie... Comcast has been giving me temporary troubles
    lately, but nothing extended.
