  1. ...I'm looking for something to help pass the time while I'm on it. On the days that I can't get out I hop on the trainer in the livingroom. Is there something that I can attach to it to make it more fun or interactive? At my gym they have a bike where you can race other (computer) riders of varying skill levels on a video screen. Is there software or anything like that for home training?

BTW. I'm a new Clydesdale (that's too funny, just learned the term), looking to lose some weight and I enjoy riding my bike. I want to spend more time on it regardless of weather. Thanks.

yes there are interactive and simulation stuff but they are expensive,
you can still use TV-DVD, PC or Music in the meantime, placing them infront of your trainer set up,
in my view the main function of a trainer is to maintain your fitness through the winter rather than a tool for performance workouts, 45 minutes spins are already ok, up to 1 hour for example.

  3. You can buy a powertap and concentrate on your heart rate and power output.

I find a radio mice to listen to. TV takes too much concentration.

  4. Hey,

Great question! There are several options to make your indoor cycling more interactive and fun. One popular choice is using virtual training platforms like Zwift, Rouvy, or TrainerRoad. These apps connect to your smart trainer and allow you to ride in virtual worlds, compete against other cyclists, and even train with structured workouts.

Regarding aerodynamics, as a Clydesdale, focusing on improving your aerodynamic efficiency can significantly impact your performance. Here are some tips:

    1. Optimize your bike fit: A proper bike fit reduces air resistance and enhances power transfer.
    2. Use aerodynamic equipment: Aero helmets, deep-section wheels, and tight-fitting clothing can reduce drag.
    3. Maintain a streamlined position: Keep your head down, shoulders low, and elbows tucked in to minimize frontal surface area.

These adjustments, combined with consistent training, will help you become a faster and more efficient cyclist. Happy training! 🙂
