I just went through a nighmare. I changed doctors, and he
put me in a hospital for 23 hours to run some test because
of my stomach problems, and my blood pressure was high.. It
was such a nightmare. sone of The nursing staff were awful.
I had trouble get response from the nurses. I had my blood
pressure checked only twice during my stay, and i had to
request it be checked upon discharge. I had to call the
charge nurse in order to get my blood pressure medication. I
was on a clear liquid diet, and after the clear liquids
which were sprite, popsicle, and yello i started to have
heart burn. I pushed the nurses button and told them i had
heart burn. about 10 minutes later she came in with a
syringe and told me she was going to give me some pepsid.
She pushed it in my iv heplock. I hand didn't start to burn
until after she had pushed it all in. She said the doctor
had some phenagan for me if i needed it for nausea. I told
her i'd see how the pepsid went first. this was 6:00 P.M.
about 9:30 i had dosed off when another nurse came in and
put some medication in my iv and said it was pepsid. I was
only to get 20mg. every 12 hours. I asked about it and he
said that the order was for every 4 hours. i had the doctor
called and he called me in my room and told me his order was
twice daily every 12 hours. I checked further and the charge
nurse checked the chart and said that i was to have pepsid
every 12 hours, and the nurse that gave it to me at 6:00
didn't chart that she gave it to me. The charge nurse came
in this morning and told me that i was mistaken. She said
that the nurse didn't give me any pepsid at 6:00 and that i
only got pepsid at 9:30 that was scheduled for 10:00. I was
so out done. I asked the nurse that gave it to me if she
told the charge nurse that she didn't give it to me? She
said that she didn't give me pepsid, she gave me a flush. I
told her that she told me she was giving me pepsid, she
smiled and said "She Know, but it wasn't time for me to have
pepsid." She said she gave me flush instead. I asked her why
she told me that it was pepsid and she said that she wanted
to make me compfortable. I told her she is a liar, and that
she did give me pepsid because saline flush has never burned
my vein. I asked her if she documented the flush, she said
no. I asked her if she had a doctors order for the flush,
and she said no. I asked her if she knew that what she had
done was unethical and illegal? She said she was sorry if
she caused me any harm. The doctor came in and told me i
could go home. This was about 9:00 A.M. I finally got my
blood pressure medication at 10:45A.M. I asked for my blood
pressure to be checked about 9:15. it was finally checked
about 10:00A.M. It was 180/101. I am so depressed about the
lack of quality care that seems to be in these hospitals.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's me, or if maybe i'm too
outspoken or what? Maybe i need to see a shrink. Well, i
think i'll sighn off.

I'd invite a few friends over and some extended family. All
at once or a few at a time. Call your family doctor too.
Show them your post .These computer's are way too impersonal.

Those might help, and then again might not. Maybe he's
already tried family, friends and doc, and came up empty. I
suggest he head to the nearest blues venue, and kick it!
Work as a fundraiser for his local non-profit radio station,
volunteer for the next roots/folk fest (they start
background work now) and just plain crank up the amps.B'adant

Oooo.
Clearly a well intentioned suggestion.
But too much noise exposure can lead to hearing loss and
tinnitus. It's a place you don't want to be -- especially
with a history of depession. Been there. Done that. Got
the t-shirt.I do like the idea of volunteering, though. Helping with
community volunteer efforts can be very helpful in
correcting the feelings of worthlessness and self-doubt that
often accompany depression.Just my $.02
