  1. I suspect that I might have a low stomach acid output and I want to try correcting it. I got some
solid tablets of Betain HCL but they only contain 100mg of HCL. I need to know how much I should
take and what the best supplements are to go with it. I read that you should start with 500-700mg
and increase the dosage each meal until you start feeling like you've taken too many. Obviously that
would involve a lot of tablets containing only 100mg. Are capsules with powder better than tablets?
What extras should I look for in the capsules? Pepsin?

I'll add that I've had no effect, ill or otherwise, from taking 600mg with meals.

Do people actually manage to get rid of rosacea and other symptoms by correcting an acid
    output problem?

I'd be interested in any input. For those of you who live by the doctor, don't worry, I'll be
bringing this up next visit, but I doubt if he'll know much about it or agree to tests. I have to
    help myself.

  2. Matt,

Just out of curiosity, how much water do you drink, and do you drink it with meals? The reason I ask
is, I knew a body builder at my gym that had problems keeping weight on, and he drank about 4
gallons of water per day, with his meals.

He had a lot of digestion problems and I can't help but think he was diluting his stomach acids out
    with too much water.

    Hope this helps?

    K.

I've wondered how drinks can effect your stomach acid, they must dilute it. I don't drink much water
and rarely with meals. I've taken up to 600mg of HCL with my main meals and haven't had any ill
    effects yet.
