Hygene Issues regarding second-hand cycling clothes!

  1. A friend has an old Team Deutsche Telekom kit that he wants to sell on. It's from the 1997 season and it's a a lovely piece of kit.

    I'm going to draw the line at buying the cycling shorts (no way I am wearing them!!) but would love to have the jersey. A few good washes should do the trick I guess or are there any reasons to avoid wearing 2nd hand jerseys?

    Lots of good deals on used pro clothing. Go for it. Shorts aren't a problem if properly washed.

    Actually a good washing machine can get stuff surprisingly clean. I don't know about what the clinical results would be on cycling gear but I believe that what you think is going to be more important than the results actually reached. We actually did a lab test way back on the cleanliness of things, and it turned out that the germ count on things recently washed at the high setting was so low that they could be used as bandages without much added risk.
