Is their an advantage that hydraulic disc brakes have over the mechanical and is it a noticeable difference?
I am assuming that with hydraulics that over time the seals will probably leak and will need to be replaced.

I have a couple bikes and I use both Hydro and Mech disc. I like both and have never wished one was the other. The nice thing about Mech is its cheaper and uses regular brake cables so its easy to maintain...no hydro lines to break!!! Thermal Break down of the oil is more of an issue with Mech disc, because theres much less oil to heat up. So if your in very hot weather or a real long ride the mech disc may get a bit sloppy. But I've never had a problem with either and would recommend both.
