Hi ....I am looking at buying a Hybrid type bike ....I have Cannondale Road bike and Claud Buttler MTB but want to buy a sporty Hybrid .....been looking at Cannondale Ultra quick , Lapierre Iron 2010 , and the Scott P1 .....does anyone on here have any other suggestions my budget is about £800 -£1000 .....also does anyone run with what i think is called the Shimano Avid Hub type gears are these any good .....i basically want to get a bike with not too an agressive riding position, needs to be able to handle off road paths tracks etc in the New Forest etc but also fast for road work ....am i asking for too much out of one bike ....any comments please i would love to get some sensible advice ...thanks in advance

I have a Trek 7.3FX that fits that description pretty well. They offer several levels of hybrid, you can actually pretty high end with them, thought their entry and mid-level stuff is very nice and quite affordable.
In fact, just picked it up from the bike shop--I had traded it in on a new road bike, but had 2nd thoughts over some of the same riding issues you mentioned.
Decided I'd hold on to it and forgo the trade-in value.
I'm glad to have her back home!
