Are you pumpers out there using humilog or novalog. I
believe I read somewhere that novalog is better than humilog
for the pump. My encro just switched me to novalog, but I am
a little worried about switching. Any experiences? tia

Not a pumper but I am sure someone will help very soon now.
Glad you asked. Welcome to ASD--

Not a pumper, but the thinking seems to be this.Novolog (Novorapid) is slightly more aggressive than
Humalog, and doesn't have the 'tail' of action that Humalog
sometimes displays. So it's actually more suitable for pump
use, as the pump delivers a steady stream of insulin. That
way there is less chance of a hypo due to residual insulin
action from earlier delivery.Ratty

My anecdotal experience has been the opposite of what you
describe. I find that the Novolog I now use has a much
longer tail than the Humalog from which which I switched.
I have had to learn new activity curves because of it.
The advantage of longer site times has made it
worthwhile, however.Randy

The published data suggests that Randy's experience is
typical. A slightly longer tail on Novolog than Humalog.
Uptake times seem to be pretty close. Bill
