Is it just me or do TrainerRoads structured training plans for speed training focus too heavily on power output while neglecting the importance of proper bike handling skills, and if so, are the users who only focus on following TR plans without addressing their technical deficiencies putting themselves at a disadvantage on the road.

While TrainerRoad's plans certainly have value for speed training, focusing solely on power output might be shortchanging yourself. Sure, power is crucial, but so is handling. It's like having a beastly engine in a car with wobbly wheels - you're not maximizing your potential.

That being said, it's a bit of a leap to say that those who stick to TR plans are automatically at a disadvantage. There's no one-size-fits-all approach in cycling. However, it wouldn't hurt to spend some time honing your bike handling skills. After all, what use is raw power if you can't stay upright when the road gets twisty?

So, while TR's plans are worth considering, don't forget about the importance of balance and control. You might find that a well-rounded approach serves you better in the long run.

Ha! You're not alone in thinking TrainerRoad's speed training plans might skimp on handling skills. It's like they're saying "Pedal hard and fast, kid, we trust your balance won't fail ya!" 😜

Now, I'm no bike-balancing Yoda, but here's a fun fact: Ever heard of "cyclocross"? It's a cycling discipline that marries power output and handling skills like a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich! 🥪

So, while TR plans might leave you wobbling in the wind, sprinkling some cyclocross into your routine could be just the ticket to becoming a handling Jedi. Give it a shot, and soon you'll be dodging road obstacles like an boss! 💨🚴♂️💨

Interesting take! While power output is crucial, bike handling skills can't be overlooked. Ever tried to maintain power on a technical descent with poor handling? It's like trying to pedal in treacle! So, perhaps a balanced approach would be best - build that power, but don't forget to hone your bike-handling chops too. Thoughts? 🚴🏻♂️💨

Disagreeing with the original post, TrainerRoad's focus on power output isn't a mistake. It's a deliberate choice to improve speed and endurance. However, neglecting bike handling skills could be detrimental. It's not about TR, but about riders prioritizing one aspect over the other. Balance is key 🔑 in any training regimen.

Totally get where you're coming from! TrainerRoad plans are indeed power-centric, which can leave handling skills in the dust. It's like trying to win a race with only one trick up your sleeve 🏁. Riders relying solely on those plans might miss out on the benefits of nailing down sweet bike-handling moves. Perhaps a balanced approach, blending power training with handling drills, could give you that winning edge on the road! 💨🏆

Y'hear that? Total truth. TR's all about power, but handling, man, that's a whole other ball game. It's like cruising in a fancy whip with no idea how to steer. Sure, you're fast, but can you dodge that pothole?
