Apparently, inconsistencies in the formatting of Litholink
test results affect the interpretation of the numbers and
accompanying footnotes...
a.For example, footnotes could be expressed more clearly.
b.Angle brackets for less than or more than leave unclear
whether the reference range is below or above the
indicator angle bracket. Interpreting the results,
clinicians can misread what is intended.
c.Large and bold were not used on some results that were out
of range which looked inconsistent with the use of large
and bold. For example, Mg24 urine magnesium 172 mg/d was
not in large and bold, Na24 urine sodium 195 mEq/d was not
in large and bold.
d.Another difficulty would be that our medical center uses
Epic software. Transcribing the test results to Epic
software has inconsistencies with the original formatting
from LithoLink.
It would be the concern of LithoLink that the testing be
used properly and consistently or it defeats the accuracy of
doing the assays in the first place.
