A man was shot dead in Crown Heights while riding his bike, police said.
A 22-year-old father was fatally shot while riding his bike on a Brooklyn street Wednesday night, police and family members said.

Carlik McClatchie was pedaling on Albany Ave. near Prospect Pl. in Crown Heights at 7 p.m. when a gunman sprayed about 10 bullets on the block, cop sources said.

McClatchie was hit in the stomach and died at Interfaith Hospital, according to police.

"His bike was in the street and he was down on the sidewalk,” said witness
Alberto, a grocery clerk who would only give his first name. “He was sitting up and then he fell back. It didn't look good.”

Family members who gathered at the crime scene, which was littered with shell casings, said McClatchie was a construction worker with a 4-year-old son.

“We called him Teddy because he was a giant Teddy bear,” said his grieving sister Shannon Phillip, 29. “He was a kind, generous, loving father.”

The man’s mother, Marjorie McClatchie, 61, an iron worker, vowed to take care of her grandson.

“He was the baby of the family. I'm trying to be strong,” she said. “We want justice. I have his son, I'm going to raise him now."

Police had made no arrests by early Thursday and the motive for the killing was unclear.

God damn... America man. I never felt the need for a gun, on my bike or otherwise here in Germany (although I lived other places before). I feel like this is an American thing, but you never know..

How could a Brooklyn man have been murdered by a gun when they are illegal in NYC?

Why don't these criminals obey the laws like the rest of us.

I propose that we pen some legislation that outlaws criminals. Simple and effective. :)

Sure Executive Order is cool." If you like your gun, you can keep your gun".

Can I cry while I issue an executive order? How's about I just spew lie upon lie upon lie as the basis for my 'logic'?

I suppose guns will also double in price but mine were all lost in a recent boating accident.

I understand, I lost mine in a card game in Santa Fe. It was a dark rainy night, then again most nights are dark except for certain months in Alaska but that's not important right now.

You were on the same arfcom cruise ship we were all on?

I was going to use The Gun Show Loophole™ and those eeeevil internet black market deals to fed sting operators and sell all my 'silenced' 'chinguns to "convicted felons", gangbangers, illegal immigrants, some islamo-fascist terrorists and a bunch of off-their-meds schizo's, but all I could find was a scared Democrat living next to the ghetto that was looking for 'protection'.

Screw him and the ass he rode in on.

What's your guys take on the speech Obama made and do you think anything will happen over it at all?

Personally I doubt much will change if anything is bought into effect, people will still find ways to get their guns and thus stuff will still happen. Hand guns, sub-machine guns are banned in the UK yet there are still loads of shootings. They did chart on the news last night saying there were more shootings across America over Christmas then there were in London last year. While that's still a high number in America I reckon the UK number would be quite higher if they accounted for all of the UK as gun crime is pretty regular in especially Manchester now.

What's your guys take on the speech Obama made...

Nothing but socialist lies and emotions running wild. No facts. Partial quotes taken out of context. More lies. Commie shilling. Hidden agendas. Some more lies. Do it for da chillum! Lies. Libtard control freak. Fear mongering. Outright lies. Bed wetting socialist liar. Crocodile tears. Prevarication. Made up statistics. Pulling **** out of his ass. Complete lies. Ignores the Constitution and the Truth. Ignores reality. Refuses to blame criminals and fight crime, but penalizes the most law-abiding citizens. More lies on top of lies.

Interesting that Obama does not brag how he is allowing ATF to eliminate the Police Chief sign off when an individual wants to purchase a Class 3 device under the NFA. (silencers, machine guns, sawed off shotguns, etc.). The reality is it does not matter because there have been two murders using automatic weapons over several decades but one must ask, why change the law if it is already working? The revision will clearly improve individual access to automatic firearms. Will more automatic guns in circulation matter? I dunno but that is what he did. (see the final rule a link)

What will happen in general with Obama most recent decrees is that law abiding citizens will have more difficulty exercising their rights while criminals will still skip the background checks currently in place. They just buy them on the street quick and cheap. When I buy a handgun, my firearms ID card is not enough. I have to apply separately where my mental health records are checked, my personal references have to fill out a form and sign on my behalf, an FBI NICs check is run, they send an inquiry to your employer (is this guy still crazy and a drunk or has he stopped beating his wife type of ambiguous questions). Then you wait many months for the permit which is good for 30 days but usually they don't call you right away. Try finding a particular handgun within say 15-20 days AND go thru another level of scrutiny during the transfer where the state does a check and another NICs check is done.

When I want to transfer shotguns and rifles to my soon to be 18 year old son, I will now have to pay a gun dealer (FFL) around $90 per gun (state fee, NICS, and the Dealer's fee). Thank you Obama. Currently, my state requires that we both have a firearms card with matching driver's license and that a particular form is filled out. How does making me spend half a day and many hundreds of dollars to transfer guns to my son do anything to keep guns out the hands of SSRI wacked out gamer's hands or from those of criminals?

With $200 and 30 minutes of time, a criminal is GTG. Maybe not an H&K or SIG but a handgun nonetheless.

I would never carry a gun, not in my car and certainly not when going for cycling. I don't own a gun and don't intend to do so in the future. If you feel safer with a gun, then that is your choice and I totally understand.

Let's hope you don't get shot in the face...

CLEVELAND - Quick response by Cleveland Police officers and witnesses played a major role in saving a man who was shot in the face while riding his bike at E. 116th Street and Miles Avenue.

Police told newnet5.com Lloyd Terrell, 59, of Cleveland, was shot on Jan. 7th, the bullet hitting him in the jaw.

Ronald Atwater and his girlfriend witnessed the shooting, quickly stopped their car, called police and then tried to stop the bleeding.

"We heard two shots, and then we saw the man just stagger off into the field," said Atwater.

"It was scary, he was coughing up a lot of blood, and he was bleeding like crazy. I was worried, she was worried, we were worried about him."

Atwater explained Cleveland police arrived just a few minutes later, carrying with them their new on-board medical kits, including a packet of quick clot.

Atwater said police were able to stop the perfuse bleeding at the scene in less than a minute, making a big difference until EMS arrived minutes later.

"It's a life saver, it's quicker and it helps them out more with the ambulance, because you never know when it's going to come,' said Atwater. "It stabilized the man a little better."

Sergeant Jennifer Ciaccia told newsnet5.com the relatively new medical kits are now on-board 400 zone cars across the city.

Ciaccia also credited additional police training.

"During the course of the training we were taught how to use the tourniquets, the quick clot, gauze and things like that," said Ciaccia. "We were also taught CPR."

Meanwhile Lloyd Terrell remains in critical condition at Metro Health Medical Center.

It's impossible to carry a gun in the summer. Where are you going to put it where you can get to it? If you put it in the back pocket of your jersey, it's going to weigh down your jersey and might even fall out. Also, with the sweating I do, the gun would be rusty in no time. Besides, I live in the country and don't ride the inner cities much. If I want to go somewhere that takes me through the city, I will ride out of my way just to avoid the area.

I used to have a ccw, but I just let it run out because I never carried it. The big reason I never carried it was that I could never find the right holster that didn't make my pants fall down. That must be why the gang bangers' pants are always falling down. Whoda known?
