Can someone explain to me why its necessary to dedicate an entire aisle to artisanal quinoa products, while the actual fruits and vegetables are relegated to a dingy corner of the store? Is the average shopper really so desperate to pay triple the price for a bag of quinoa thats been curated by a Brooklynite with a man-bun?
And another thing, whats with the obsession with gluten-free this and organic that? Are people really that convinced that the gluten in their whole wheat bread is secretly plotting against them? And dont even get me started on the non-GMO label - do people actually think that scientists are sneaking into cornfields at night, injecting genes into every ear of corn with a syringe?
All Im saying is, cant we just focus on eating actual food, like apples and carrots, instead of relying on gimmicks and marketing nonsense to make our purchasing decisions? I mean, Im no expert, but it seems to me that the key to making healthy food choices is to, you know, actually choose healthy foods. Not some overpriced, Instagrammable nonsense thats just going to end up in the trash anyway.
