  1. Nope. Not a rant. Just an oddball question.

I keep winding up feverish after rides.

I take in plenty of fluids, don't overdress for the weather. Other
things seem fairly well normal--pretty darned clean bill of health.

But even 3-4hrs after rides, I'm running anywhere up to 100F. It's
probably been like this for a while, but I only recently began
    actually taking my temp.

Aspirin seems to knock it down, and I'm back to +/- normal the next
    morning.

    Anybody else had this experience?

Sort of -- if I've been sedentary for a while at this time of
year I might start feeling uncomfortably cold, but some
    riding fixes that.

I've heard/read that riding a lot thickens the blood as it
adapts to the increasing oxygen needs of your muscles. I
wonder if that might be a factor in your fever experiences?
Your allusion to aspirin kinda led me to this guess. And
that's all it is -- a guess. I'm no expert.

As you probably know, garlic is reputed to have blood-thinning
properties. Probably more gently than aspirin. If you're in
an experimental mood, you might opt to try those odourless/
tasteless garlic supplements available at any Health Nut Store.
Or go for the culinary gusto, a la Emeril LaGasse :-)

BTW, off-the-shelf canned mushroom soup makes a fairly good
base for homemade roast garlic soup.

    cheers,
    Tom

Running a fever is a sign of overtraining, or at least that's what the
bodybuilding crowd says. Are you getting enough sleep? Eating enough
calories? Maintaining hydration? Have you considered taking a couple of days
off and seeing if the fever reoccurs?

One can never take in too much garlic. I'll give that a whirl.

    Thanks for the feedback, Tom.

I may have to try that, thanks, though I really don't feel like I'm
    pushing.

Sleep's plenty. No alarm clock necessary. Eating like a horse.
Drink >= a bottle an hour while riding. Usually carrying one with
Gatorade (or equiv) and one with water, filling with water along the
    ride.

If anything, I've slowed the pace a bit in the last few months.

Ah, well. If it persists, I'll go get looked at. Meanwhile, thanks
    for the feedback.
