We live in the Southwest US (altitude about 1600 metres) and the
temperature has been between 35 and 40 C for the last few weeks.
Fortunately we do have a new cooler; it took two weeks from when the old
cooler broke down until someone could put in the new one. Fans were a
big help!

You're in ITALY, though! I would be happy to broil in Italy!

I went to a GTG for a group from a website for which I write. It
started at 4 PM to avoid heat. That didn't work. Broiling is a mild
word to apply to heat that although dry causes you to put out your own
vapor cloud. I finally left at 10:15 because my eyes burned. Why?
they were surrounded with salt crystals! No relief until home and fresh
water.

While there I drank mostly water and never had to go to the potty
because I was sweating it all out. We were on a south facing hillside
under enormous umbrellas. It reminded me of the technology for a solar
oven. When the water in the bottles feels hot to your mouth, you know
it's hot.

You have my sympathy. We were in Sweden a few weeks ago and it was cool
and rainy the whole time. We came back to Colorado to find temperatures
in the mid-to-high 90's. And our air conditioner failed four days ago.
It will be repaired Tuesday, but in the meantime the forecast is for 100
degree F temperatures in the Denver area this weekend.

It's pretty cool here for July, right now. I'm in Los Angeles, USA. My
building-shaded outdoor probe shows 90.5 F as I write. It's 90 F here
at my desk; I haven't needed to turn on the air conditioning, but I'm
sitting in the breeze of a desk fan. It's about 4 PM.

Mid to upper 90s most of this week and last week. We're just now getting
a
break. The temp has drastically dropped and we've got beautiful, glorious
RAIN. It's going to be a marinated pork tenderloin tonight with augratin
potatoes, a salad and some steamed asparagus.

It has finally cooled off here. 72 outside and 76 in the house. I got
the oven going today and made an apple crisp. Wanted to use up the rest
of a bag of gluten free oats that were soon to expire.

Oh!!!! It's pretty cool indeed! What is an apple crisp?

Good to hear from you again-

It is only about 84F. which is unseasonably cool here today in
California's Central Valley. My kitchen temperatures at dinner time are
usually in the mid-90s through most of the summer. I often eat outside
at around 8pm as the temperature has usually dropped by then. Nights
usually cool down to around 60 by morning so the house can usually be
cooled down with a window fan. It is quite possible to get used to it.
It is a major tomato growing area and there are wine grapes nearby. No
mushrooms until the Fall rains, though. ;={(>

You get used to it after a couple of years.
