I recently bought a pair of Continental Sport 1000 tyres for clinchers. They specify that you need hooked type rims, for example in mavic speficied with a "C" in the rim size. Mines were not and the tyres are incredibly unstable, unsurprisingly... Its the first time with any kind of tyre that this happens to me. Are my rims too old? Or is it just a problem with Continental tyres? Anyone experienced something similar?

Modern high pressure clincher tires are designed to be used with hooked rims to secure the bead. I don't recall ever seeing a 700c clincher wheel that wasn't hooked. Some of the old cheap 27" rims weren't and they were not recommended for anything over 60 or 70 pis I think. I wouldn't use them in any event. Nothing wrong with the tires.I use em all the time.
