  1. When using a recipe that requires Marshmallow Creme, can I
substitute by using Marshmallows? Do I melt them and add
    other ingredients?

Marshmallow creme is generally used in "cold" dishes.

Experiment. Put your marshmallows in a large stainless pan
over a pot of simmering water and stir/whip constantly until
    the marshmallows are melted.

See if that works for your recipe.

I would think that adding a little corn syrup to the melted
marshmallows might make the marshmallow set up less stiff. I
suppose it would depend on the recipe. Does your recipe need
a soft set like marshmallow creme?
