If you do a Google search on this group as well as the scuba diving group, you'll find a bunch of
recipes for home-made ear remedies, usually involving some mix of alcohol and vinegar or glycerin.
So the short answer is, yes (with the caveat that straight alcohol could irritate your ear linings),
the long answer is, you can try other things as well.

Yes, white vinager to clean and alcohool to promote evaporation and drying.
