In switching to the clipless peddles about a month ago, I had some inner knee pain just above my left knee. It turned out to be a combo of saddle height and I think, I think cleat position not to sure. Anywho, have been very careful in my training rides, I do 6 days then rest, not hard rides, talking 25-30 miles pretty much all on flat road, at a pace of 17 mph. A friend of mine wants me to do a summits ride on this Saturday, I have been riding with no knee pain for about a week straight after I made the proper adjustments and 10 days off before that. Again this summit ride is 35 miles, and has 7 hills at 16%, 17%, 18% increase and cat 1, 2, 4. I'm trying to be smart and not push myself seeing as I'm coming of a knee pain, but the cyclist in me really wants to do the ride, am I just over re-acting and should do the ride? I have done no hill work in the last week or so, so I would be going in cold turkey. So I'm asking what you great cyclist would do if you were in my shoes! Let me know that would be great!!

Having been thru my fair share of knee injuries and having pushed thru the pain i now relaize i was stupid. I would say if you are concerned about your knees don't do the ride. The hills will be there later this year and next year too. Better to be safe and wait than go and hurt yourself and not be able to ride.. -

Are you able to adjust the float on your pedals? Float is the wiggle room your foot has before you clip out.
