That may be the case, but a taller person *doesn't* have the technique
that Ryan Atkins has, and never will. Not to say that a taller person
might have similar or better talents someday, but they will never, ever
be Ryan's talents. Apples and oranges.
Some sports divide riders by weight, which should also be a factor in
jump height, but I can't think of any that divide by height. Because
it's not really height you want credit for, you want leg length. Any
sports that divide by leg length? Anyway, we don't.
In the past there has also been discussion about whether shorter people
can pedal faster than taller ones, or vice-versa, which crank size is
most efficient for either, etc. But we've only ever divided racing by
wheel size and/or age. Some of the fastest riders ever were not that
tall. Body-wise, you get what you get.

At the moment, Danni is leaving it a little unclear as to whether he
wants to use any criteria. He seemed to discard the IUF rules for High
Jump, and described a little of what was done at FLUCK, but didn't
describe it for entrants into this competition.
High Jump is an actual official event with international rules, but not
everybody likes jumping over a bar. It's definitely more of a hassle to
set up, and it's not a good simulation of what people normally do in
Trials. A Side Hop competition would be better, but then Danni should
specify whether it needs to be to rubber, can you put a hand down, how
long you must stay on the unicycle afterward, etc.
I like the idea of a Side Hop competition and expect it to get
introduced at the IUF level sometime soon. Nobody has proposed it yet
though...
