Gee, it really, huh ? After DX, I got hba1c under 6, and I swear I was eating so much fiber that I
was grinding up food in my gut 24/7 ... nice to know I was right. I began eating "health foods" in
the 60's. And i knew it was the right road, all this fiber, but I gave it up, and now I wish I
hadn't. I don;t want to complain too much today, but some of the worst info given to me was that
high fiber was causing all my problems ( ? ) ... and hba1c has to be well over 6 to be a problem.
And now we have this "new info" ... Well, if life experience bears this out, both of those things
are really work. High fiber and lower hba1c. And you know this makes sense, if you have been a
diabetic for more than a week, and read and become knowledgeable, and tried it out. This info is not
new. It also wasn't "new" in 1988 when my sister was dx'd ... It was unpopular because people
wouldn't listen. Her dietician at that time, knew this to be true. So I am LOL this a.m., so don't
think I am ranting ,,, well. maybe I am a little, I am just mightily frustrated that I had so many
docs tell me this stuff wasn't right ... I am thinking they musta gone to the doctoring school that
produces that little red plastic doctoring bag with the plastic tools ? You know, the Hasbro toy co.
? I can still hear that one doc telling me that high fiber foods were running up my bg's, don't eat
carrots. that's my whole problem and do take this miracle herb to lose weight ... ( I asked her if
she did, and she gave me a knowing look and said "yes". Sje was obese, herself ) Bg's going out of
control and she says she "will do something" when they go to 10 or maybe 11 ... almost where I
started. Maybe I ain't so crazy after ll. I eat flaxseed meal I make myself, eat just about nothing
that isn't high fiber, and that works for me. About 35 years ago, when I was a hippie, there was a
lady herbalist, who ran a health food store where I lived, and what she said then wasn't rocket
science, and it holds true now. Also, there was a doctor in a hospital in Nashville where I worked
in CCU, that everyone thought was nuts, I mean, really crackers, along with his 2 collegues .. they
were prescribing then what we are hearing now. He prescribed high fiber and lower carb, when it
wasn't popular, along with many of the things standard nowadays in the dietary world. ( the guy was
a real fruitcake ... oh I didn't mean to use a banned food word to describe him. I mean really odd.
His patients hated the diet, but the ones who did it got better. He was really rude and said if you
didn't want to do it his way, find another doc.) Oh yeah, this was 1978. I always refer back to him
and her when I run amuck and get in to trouble. See, I knew I was right. It makes sense. I am kinda
LOL today becaue of it. It isn't new info, just has the stamp of a so-called expert, now ..... (
Someone pass the 12 grain bread, okay !?) Rainbow
