    first of all, hello everyone. new here. i am looking to get a road bike and while researching a few, i stumbled on this forum. i must say just by browsing through it briefly, its a nice forum. looking forward to spending many mornings reading stuff on this forum.

    currently i commute to work everyday. its 30 miles round trip monday - friday. i have a cannondale q6 hybrid and its treating me real good. i took my hybrid out on a sunday afternoon for a 60 mile ride and although it was really fun, i have come to a conclusion that i need a road bike for the weekends.

    so here are my choices. now i am a beginner so i don't need a great bike YET. if i really get in to this sport then i will invest on something really nice. but for now here they are.

    1. cannondale synapse ally 7 sora

    2. felt F95 team issue

    as you can see i am looking for something under $900. i really don't want to spend more just yet.

    so if there are other suggestions for the price i am thinking, i would really appreciate it.

    60 miles is not a walk in the park... congratulations,
    i would say you need to buy the best you can afford,
    buy new unless you know the seller if you buy second hand,

    You ride 150+ miles a week and claim to be a beginner?

    My advice to you is to look into something you find sportier, faster than you currently ride but is still comfortable for long outings. Don't be upsold that you have to have carbon fiber this or unobtainium that, there are plenty of good bikes in the sub $1000 range. In the shimano range of components, I can tell you that there is no shame in a Sora, Tiagra or 105 equipped bike. I do regular group rides on a $300 bike and can keep up with the A riders.

    I can vouch for the Trek 1.2. I bought one new for my wife last year for less than $750, it has sora/tiagra shifting 3x9 and a carbon fork. We bought it at a LBS, they had her fitted and ended up changing the stem. She loves it.

    If the bike shops in your area have any left, take a look at their 2010 bikes. There have not been any significant changes from 2010 to 2011 and you may get a better spec'ed bike in your price range.
