  1. Hi,
I'm in the market for a road bike, and after extensive searching on ebay and what not I was offered a 2003 Trek 1400 for U.S. $400.
First of all, is this a good price?
Also I realized that this bike is not offered in the US markets by Trek. The seller is a guy from Europe.

Any type of info on this bicycle would be helpful.

    Some specific questions are:
    1. Is this a good price?
    2. Is this a good entry level bike?
    3. Should I get a Double (18 spd) or triple (27 spd) version?
    4. Should I be concerned at all that the seller is
from Europe and shipping to the U.S.?
    5. The seller doesn't seem to have a website, but sells through third party UPS, where, he sends it to UPS, UPS lets me examine it, if I take the bike, then I send the money. I think this is what he explained.
    6. Also any other answers to questions that I may not have asked because of my ignorance, please feel free to address them.

    Thank you very much

  2. If it's one of these - http://www.trekbikes.com.au/catalogue.cgi?rm=product&product_id=7&subcategory_id=1 - and it has no problems, then the price is very good. If it's new, then it's a great deal. It is also a very good entry level bike.

  3. Hi, don't know if you have already bought the Trek 1400. I am in South Africa, and going on your price in dollars, it's a good price. Used 1400 will go for+/- $1000.00 here. I have ridden one for a year now (105 groupset) and I have had no problems. Enjoy it.
