  1. Hello all. I did a search of this group for insurance information but
didn't find a lot of recent info.

I was asked to be a mentor for a high school student's senior project.
He wants to put together a 5K charity race for his project. We are
assuming between 75 and 150 finishers and the proceeds will be donated
    to Special Olympics.

While I run a lot and helped organize one race before, I had absolutely
nothing to do with the insurance and general liability part of it, so I
    am pretty clueless.

This race will be in the trail areas of our city that go through the
residential areas, with a start and finish in a high school parking
lot. I have already contacted the parks district about requirements.
Obviously, I need a certificate of insurance before they will issue the
    permit.

Does anyone have any recommendations for event insurance? How about
ideas for what it should cost?

I sent email to RRCA asking about this but other than that I am not
sure where to look. I am in Colorado if it makes a difference.

    Thanks in advance.

I am in Northern CO. We have Runners Roost (runnersroost.com) that sponsers
a lot of the local runs. The shop owners/managers should be able to put you
    in touch
with the organizers of many of the local runs. They should be able to shed
    some
light on this I would think.
