We were planning on just staying up the mountain the night before. Are there a lot of people that do this? Also we might fly back home the same night after the stage has finished what are our chances of getting back down the moutain in a resaonable time given the amount of people wanting to get down?

Dont know specifically about Courchevel and hope to be there too.
Based on Luz Ardiden two years ago, depends on how you get up the mountain. Bike is the best way to get down. Hoards of people walking down, thosands of cyclists biking down. Cars are very slow. Can take a long time to get down depending.
I think Pla D'Adet will be the queen stage although poeple who live closes may swarm Courchevel like Alpe dHuez, hard to know.
The deal is even if you get down fast, how long it will take to get to the airport, which airport etc.
The roads at the basevare often clogged with folks getting out, the teams the press the caravan etc so traffic jams are routine.
I would fly the next day, personally, just my thought.
