  1. Hello to all!

I am at the middle of my twenties and my fasting glucose
is OK. However, I have borderline symptoms of the
    metabolic syndrome.

I added vegetables to my diet and by that alone I manged to
get down from 185 pounds to 162... I keep going down, just
    lost my hunger!

However, my triglycerides around still 150, HDL 40, and
worst yet - I now have a disproportionally big tummy (37"😉,
as my wasit is the same, getting my Waist:Hip ratio to 1. I
look thin with a large proturding gut. Not something nice to
my age or any age at all )-:

I have tried Glucopahge before but it didn't do much to my
tummy, though my blood chem got fine. Maybe I gave it too
    short a try.

I 've read research showing Avandia thickens the waist but
    Glucophage (metformain) doesn't.

I want to know if there is any chance that Avandia will get
me rid of my tummy better than Glucopage. I don't worry from
weight gain since I am losing it so easily...

What do you people say? Thank's a lot for the advice!

    Jimmy

    Hi Jimmy

You're getting a little ahead of things when you're already
discussing drugs before you have a diagnosis.

See a doctor. If your fasting glucose is "OK", and your only
other symptom is your stomach and lipids, all you may need
is a good exercise program. Or it may be anything from gas
to a tumour - we certainly don't know, nor can we diagnose
    or advise you.

I certainly would not experiment with medicinal drugs
without a doctor's advice. Tell the doctor what you told us.

Cheers, Alan, T2 d&e, Australia. Remove weight and
    carbs to email.

    Please heed what Alan wrote.

What you describe could be a symptom of a thyroid problem.
So, when you see the doc, be sure he/she checks your thyroid
gland. My father has a BMI of 17--he works out every day,
and he has a pooch--the doc said it was from his thyroid.
Thyroid replacement has not gotten rid of his tummy, but it
is quite a bit smaller. My Dad is 74.

Since you did not say your tummy was painful, I doubt it
    is gas. JMO
