I'm a 28yo white male. For the past 15 months I have had two problems:
Autoimmune thyroiditis A very annoying red rash on sides
and stomach
My thyroid went out of whack around the same time I started
noticing these red blotches of skin.
It started on my left hip... about 1 square inch of skin
turned red. This stayed for several months then I showed my
doctor. He gave me clotrimazole and betamethasone
dipropionate cream and it went away within three days. I
quit using the cream (thinking I was healed) and it came
right back. I use the cream,.. it goes away. I stop the
cream, it comes back!!! I've even tried using the cream for
several days and stopping.
And now it has migrated to both sides and stomach.. mostly
on top of my rib area on both sides.
The rash does not itch, it is not raised. They are oblong
areas about 1", they seem to appear in the same place each
time and group together, not round or anything. The cream
helps but I have to keep using it all the time or it comes
right back.
Any ideas? I'm about ready to go to a dermatologist. I'm
just wondering what this could be. Fungal? How can it stay
around for over a year? Or could it have something to do
with my autoimmune thyroid condition?
