    I'm doing a parts swap from my old FS MTB which has a Shimano LX (FD M570) front derailleur. It looks to be top swing/bottom pull, i.e. it's pulled from the bottom by the cable runs around the bottom of the bottom bracket.

    My new hardtail frame runs the front derailleur cable from the top tube and down the seat tube.

    😕I'm guessing this would mean that I need a new "top pull" front derailleur?

    😕 But, does this also mean that I would need it to be a bottom swing?

    😕 If NO, which (top swing/bottom swing) is the better choice for a typical diamond framed hardtail?

    😕 Any way I can get my old M570 to work as a top pull?

    it is my understanding and i could be wrong
    that you can not make a top pull go the other way or vice versus. i guess it would be possible but there would be a lot of monkey diddling. why not just buy a new one? probably not too much. i usually find fitting the proper equipment to a bike and getting it to operate smoothly, is challenge enough.
