  1. Hi hope someone can advise me of any exercise / diet to
reduce the onset of cramps in my calves after a ride and
ocasionally durring a time trial run the cramps are very
severe leaving me compleatly debilitated with the pain for
about a minute and tender calves for about a day. Im not a
cycling pro , got back into road riding about 6 months ago
and have beeen gradually trying to improve my fitness on a
local TT route here in northamptonshire ,UK. I REALLY enjoy
my cycling and want to find a solution to this. Any
    sujestions would be greatly appreaciated.

"Increase of daily dietary sodium chloride eliminated heat
    cramps reoccurrence."

Eat a banana with breakfast, maybe even two. Good source of
    potassium.

The heat is no on where I live so I've got to pay more
attention and I perspire more, thus depeating electrolytes
and dehydrating. In the winter I can get away with one water
bottle, but need more carbs for breakfast because of the
cold. Now I eat lighter, but focus more on potassium,
calcium and sodium. Sodium is easy, it's half the content of
table salt don't get too much. Calcium is easy, here, just
drink lots of water, it's got calcium carbonate to beat the
band. Potassium is often in short supply, unless you
specifically seek out those foods with
it. I'll get it from a supplement or sports drink mix in
water bottles, but as a last resort. Good sources are
bananas, kiwi fruit and seaweed (the latter I add to
soups.) Also, make sure you get enough water, build up
of lactic acid will bring you to a halt fast, too.
