help picking new bike

Yes, there are rear shocks which can be LOCKed OUT ...

What are you currently riding? Were you planning on keeping it AND can it be dedicated to your road riding?

A GOOD full suspension MTB with a good rear shock you can be expensive ... very expensive.

How many miles do you think you'll be riding on the road vs. how many miles do you think you'll be riding off-road?

thanks for the response. My "plan" is to have an extra set of rim/tires for the road. that is why I was inquiring about the lock on the shock. I will probably ride a little more on the road, but not a lot more. If I had the lock on the shock, extra rims/tires it would be pretty versatile. 🙂

also, what about a Motobecane bike. Do you know anything about these. They are fairly low cost, but seem to have many good features.
