  1. I hope everyone can excuse my asking an obvious question or two. I've searched a bit, but could you tell me how to perform the test to determine the FTP? Also, what are the descriptions for L4,L5,L6 etc. Are these training zones? I want to learn about power training and I am clueless about these abbreviations. Thanks, and sorry again about the simple questions. Glen

This will tell you almost everything you would need to know to get started.

The next recommendation you'll hear is to purchase the Coggan/Allen book Training and Racing with Power.

After that, read pages and pages of threads here as topics meet your eye. Most of the questions you could have will probably be found in 1 or 2 pages of threads, as they typically get asked on a pretty routine basis.

More meaty discussions can be read/searched on the Google Groups Wattage forum:

You'll have to subscribe/be signed in to Google to access it.

The up side is you'll find a lot of answers to your questions in all of those places. The down side is, you'll have a lot more questions.
