Help needed in suspension fork upgrade

    Hi,

    sorry to bother you all. I am in need of a little advice/guidance.

    I'm seriously thinking of taking off the crappy springy suspension fork and replacing it with a nice
    Marzocchi fork that I have seen for £99

    Does anyone have any experiences with this fork and any comments.

    Also, the fork comes in two sizes. I have spoken to some friends who inform me that if I get the
    wrong one it will affect the geometry and that I should go for the 85mm one.

    Any advice would be greatfully received.

    My bike is a Marin Bobcat Trail (I think it's the 2000 model as it came with [censored] gripshift)

    The gripshift has been changed to lovely rapidfire plus Shimano...

    It HAD a rigid fork, but I got the existing one for hardly any money as I didn't really do much
    offroad and didn't need it.

    I DO now, so I do.. (if that makes sense)

    Steve Peat writes... good quality budget marzocchi's, bit slow on the rebound though. nice amount of
    travel don't bottom out easily, very good fork. anyone looking for low budget but good quality forks
    should look no further.

    Nick writes... very good forks for the price, i reccomend them to you

    jason writes... these forks are good for jumpin etc but the rebound is quite slow, also if u havnt
    used them for a couple of days the feel jumpy and cluncky, also remember to break them in at the psi
    they come at, dont pump them up for at least 10hrs riding!!

    The fork is damn decent for the money, what travel fork do you have at the minute? In laymans terms
    a 1" increase in fork travel adds approx 1 degree to the head angle. Also adding this longer for
    will have more sag (The amount the fork is compressed by your body weight at rest) so the increase
    in lenght may not be as much as you think)
