  1. Hi. I currently swim at my local Community College Pool, and I am having a tough time getting a
straight answer on its length. The lifegard swears it is 25 meters long, while other swimmers hold
firm that it is 25 yeards long. I called the pool office and the best they could do is tell me it is
"official olympic size." I am wondering; since this pool is used for official collegiate
competitions would that give me a clue to its length?

    Thanks,

    Karl

Where are you, Karl? Official competitions in the states could be either. Official competitions in
other countries would likely be metres.

I had this same dilemma at a local pool, so I counted the tiles along the side, added a little extra
for grout lines, and figured out it was a 25 yard pool. Also, a good clue is the age of the pool.
    Older pool=yards.

Another way to figure it out is to call one of the colleges that comes to your school for
competition. You can bet that swim coach will know exactly how long the pool is at your school.
