  1. Here's one to bamboozle all you true techies....

I've got an Univega SL7 Alpina (the euro one) frameset, circa 2003/4 (it takes a rear disc and a 165mm rear shock) and is navy blue/silver. It was listed on various European websites as XT/XTR Equipped. I was told when I bought it that it took a onepointfive headset.

Uh-Uh! no way, jose' I've bought two - yes two - different onepointfive headsets and both are TOO SMALL!! by about 2.5mm! This is driving me nuts. I live in London and no one in any geek friendly shop can believe what I am talking to them about. 'Bigger than Onepointfive? Are you sure?' Then they go out the back and have a huge laugh, while circling their pointy finger at their ear.

Anybody here in the world's coolest cycling forum be able to tell what I need and where I get a headset to fit? I' send you some choccies if you help me out. Please email me at [email hidden] if you think you're man enough

    Andrea

  2. It sounds like it could be a 40mm diameter headset, not 38.1 which is a 1.5 inch. Are you sure you are using the right type of headset? Is it an integrated design of classic style headset?
