hi guys, bit of help required please if its not too much trouble! i currently run and swim to a pretty high standard (top 3 in GB) and wanna have a go at triathlon but have never cycled before. i want to get quite a lot of work in over the summer so am looking to get an alright standard bike that i can race on that is quite cheap (£300?) cos obviously if it turns out that i am [censored] at cycling i don't want to have wasted money! i have no experience of bikes and little idea if the guys inb the shops ae ripping me off... any ideas?
thanks everybody

You should go a bit higher in price and test ride two or three bikes. If you're a runner you should be a great cyclist.

I was also a runner b/4 I got into the world of cycling. Now I can ride hours and hours and have no problem next day, but after 3-4 miles of running, my body screams for next 3-4 days. I do think that running and cycling use different muscle group. I heard that strong runners have a better chance of winning triathlon anyway.
You need a tip on buying a bike? Here it is: You get what you paid for. It could cost a fortune, but I think it's worth investing.
I'm no expert. I'm just a guy who likes to pedal.
Best luck,

Absolutely...If winning the race is important to you then dump the cash...It was not until I did my first Mountain bike race that I realized that I needed to spend more money on my hobby! 🙂
If you live in a city/town that is big into cycling you will have no problem re-selling a bike that you don't enjoy/need and recover most of your investment. The flip side of course is you will be so happy you spent the money as you pass your competition. 🙂
