Hi all
I thought before I started scuttling around the forums doing my best to pick the collective brain of the cycling hive that I should at least say hello!
I'm very new to the world of taking cycling seriously.... learnt to ride a bike as a kid, and have happily picked up bikes for fun and the odd nice day out over the years. Last year, a drunken bet with a friend lead me to complete my first triathlon on my trusty (but heavy) hybrid. I loved the experience, but swore I'd rather die than do another triathlon on a bike that majors on reliability, but definitely minors on speed.
Obviously this was just an excuse to buy some shiny new kit as I could sense that this was definitely a way I would quite happily spend a fair bit of time, and so to that end I have recently acquired a road bike with the intention of getting involved in a few rides. I'm fine with the idea of building myself up in terms of speed, distance and general capability, but I have literally no clue on any form of bike maintenance - how to clean it, change a tyre etc. Nothing. And sadly none of my friends or family are bikers either so there is no-one obvious for me to pick the brain off... So I'll be hoping for some help and general pointers for the above from you good people.
Here's hoping you're friendly and don't bite ;o)
Cheers for any help and advice anyone can give!
H
