One word of advice - stay away from the Soapbox.
As a veteran, I can tell you it's really not worth it !

Hi Matt:
I live in Canada, and as we are right in the middle of our winter months, my "cycling" is mainly in my dreams right now. However, about the middle of march, our roads should be getting free from the ice and snow, and we will be able to get back out there again.
My wife and I do a lot of "Long Distant Touring" and I would be happy to discuss with you any Canadian Trips you might have in mind. Perhaps you might be interested in equipement, etc.

Your introduction reminded me of something. 3 years ago I`m slogging along the Bedford highway against a headwind on my Schwinn MTB when I was passed by a paceline of roadies. As I watched them disappear over the hill I said to myself..." That`s the way to do it!"

5 months later I bought my road bike and have not looked back. 😄

Hi, I have been seriously into cycling for 3 months now. I ran cross-country for three years prior to cycling. I am 15 years old and by now I have ridden 1800 miles collectively. I have a Trek 1500 and enjoy it immensely.

My advice to you, a begineer, is to be wary of overtraining and to ride in group rides. Before you buy the bike that you were talking about check it over and make sure its what you want.
