I think the winner, Michael, has a bit more vision and is willing to take a
few more risks food-wise. Then came the tough (and last minute decision) -
did he want to go with his own restaurant or go to work in London
side-by-side with Chef Ramsay and learn more about being a master chef? He
elected to go to London and I think it was the wise choice. (Just my
opinion but I think Ralph would have been all "naw, just give me my own
restaurant".)

Considering that a restaurant is one of the most risky buisinesses to
start up, I also think it was the wise choice. I was rooting for michael
from the beginning. (Then again, I'm a sucker for tattoos.)

I'm not a sucker for tatoos, to each his/her own 🙂 He was simply the
better, more creative chef IMHO. I watched the first couple of shows and
then didn't see it for a while, but I got the feeling from the first show he
was going to make it to the end. And it was very sweet he named "his"
restaurant in the final show after his wife and his nickname for her. Okay,
sue me... I'm a sucker for romance 😉

I cringed when they brought that guy (Dewberry?) or whatever back. I knew
he'd flake out; he freaked and walked out in the second show, IIRC. In the
finale, he was going to pass out from the heat. Hey, professional kitchens
are hot... you know? Grills/salamanders, steaming pots of stock, ovens,
searing flames... pardon me while I say, "If you can't take the heat, get
out of the kitchen"!

I must say, this show beat any of the other "reality shows" I've heard about
(no, I've never watched 'Big Brother' or 'Survivor' or 'Fear Factor'😉. At
least there's a goal besides merely a cash prize. And they didn't have to
eat bugs 🙂

I enjoyed the show. Some people were put off by Ramsay's yelling and
cursing, but that's the nature of that beast. I liked when Michael was
doing his Ramsay imitation, that was hilarious.

This is in the Apprentice mode, but I liked the fact that Ramsay was
totally involved with the contestants. No relying on input from the
other players or his flunkies, it's what he observed. And he definitely
has a knack for observation and cutting through the BS.

The results were both what I predicted and what I would have decided
myself. I agree that Ralph just doesn't have quite the creative edge,
and at his age probably won't develop it. Michael is lacking in the
authority that a chef needs, but that IS something that can be worked
on.

Yep, that was funny! He was trying to buck himself up for the end. In the
shows I did see prior to this one, I noticed as the competition thinned out,
Ramsay wasn't yelling quite as much and praising more. In the beginning he
was sort of culling the wheat from the chaff.

Yes, in the shows I saw I really liked that Ramsay was right there, not
sitting in a boardroom waiting for someone else to tell him what was going
on. "The Donald" has himself quite a hit show but he's very rarely there
observing anything, which is sad if he's actually going to hire those
people.

Yep. Ralph is rather set in his ways and sort of lorded it over that he's
older therefore he must be better. He's entertaining; he's a good
cook/chef. He did control his kitchen well. But he doesn't have what it
takes to become the next cutting-edge restauranteur IMHO. As I said before,
does NYC really need another Italian Steakhouse? Maybe he should take it
to, oh, I don't know... Indiana? 😉
