Hi,
I want to buy a simple, not too expensive (+/-50dollars), heartbeat meter in order to train better and more effective (intervals etc). What functions on the meter are most important and what meter do you recommend?
Thanks,
Daniel

I have a Sports Instruments ECG 5 which has all the needed basics (target zones, time in zone, avg HR, max HR) for HR training. The ECG 5 is an older model and the current upgraded version is the Pro 7. You can find them on eBay right around the $50 mark.

I like the Sports Instruments HR monitors because you can replace the batteries in the transmitter chest strap. Polar chest straps have to be replaced or sent back to Polar when the battery dies.

Sigma Sport has replaceable batteries as well. I have the PC14, which Nashbar still has on sale for $35.
