My thanks to all who replied to my previous post, especially those who
followed the subject line.
I have purchased a HRM via http://www.heartratemonitor.co.uk after
discovering that shopping for a HRM on the High Street is a waste of
time unless you want to purchase a Polar item. Argos was the only store
I found that stocked any other model.
My HRM arrived this morning 3 working days after being ordered. It had
it's first outing in the gym today.
Should my initial query have set any reader thinking about obtaining one
then they are invited to whiz an E-mail down my line in about 3 weeks
time when I should be knowledgeable enough to offer a little advice on
the CardioSport model I bought.

Well then what are your max and min!
I can get mine up to 209, which is a bit unexpected for a 43 year old!
I have a low of 50 but find it very difficult to relax and watch the pulse
meter at the same time. So i suspect it gets into the 40's when I am not
looking!Getting the Minimum figure is tricky, unfortunately I start to get
impatient when it levels off at 51 - 52, this impatience can knock it up to
60, which is bloody annoying, this off course ratchets it up to 80, at this
point I loose the plot completely I find myself 100+I must list it on ebay before I do myself or some one else some harm!

I've just bought one of these:
http://www.oregonscientific.co.uk/product.asp?p=155I've not tried to get a maximum reading yet but I've managed to sustain
180-190 for five minutes (cycling across London - I deliberately left
work late so I could get a clear run). I'm 35.Quoted message said:

When I'm sitting there looking at it I can usually get it down into the
high fifties. When lying in bed watching it I can get it down to the
high forties.
My pulse has a minimum of around 40 when I'm asleep - I had it to alarm
if my pulse went below 40 and it kept going off just as I went to sleep
so I turned the alarm off but looking at the graphs the minimum is not
much below 40 (except for one sample of 28 which I assume was a glitch)When I first got it I could get my pulse rate to 130 just by looking at
the heartrate. Three days later I'm much better at keeping it under
control.Quoted message said:

Unfortunately, the software for my watch is windows only so I've spent
the last few evenings reverse engineering the datastream. I've got to
the point where I can read most of the data off the watch now. So
there's a chance I can get something up on sourceforge this weekend.
Otherwise it's going to be the new year.Tim.

Checked this morning.... 146 and 52.
Not great numbers but not too bad, especially for someone who is a bit
in excess of the biblical 3 score and ten.Quoted message said:

Taking Asprin every day is good for your heart.
Take one Asprin tablet for a 5 mile bike ride, a short jog
and 20 mins exercise in the gym, then discard the tablet.
