Heart failure - when your ticker misses a beat

A feature in today's Telegraph focuses on heart failure, offering detailed
descriptions of its causes and symptoms. There is a great deal of confusion
surrounding the disorder, and the Telegraph says that 'alarm is often
compounded by the varied approaches of GPs to diagnosis and treatment.' A
new blood test, called B-type natruiretic peptide, promises to provide a
swift, simple and relatively inexpensive way to find out if a patient has
early heart failure. Very few people are offered it in the UK, but this
could change as a result of recent backing by the NICE. The article includes
a section on 'questions to ask your GP', and a case study of a man who took
Eucardic to manage his heart problems.
