  1. Hi,

I had an annoying creak which I eventually solved by removing the forks and
cleaning and lightly greasingthe headset cups where they sit in the frame.
(This is a CAAD5 with the original Campagnolo 1 1/8 inch aheadset).

The annoying thing is that after two weeks the creak/click is back.
Admittedly I have had a couple of very wet rides in that time. Surely I
shouldn't be needing to repeat this procedure already.

Is it possible that I need a new headset??

Are these types of headset fairly standard in terms of the fit of the
chamfer in the head tube? Also is the alloy piece on the fork part of the
fork or a press fitted part of the headset?

    Thanks for any help.

    Pete

Stand in front of the bicycle and grab the drops of the handlebars and
rock them side to side while leaning on them. The creak is frequently
the attachment of stem to steerer tube or stem to bars. On occasion,
the skewer creaks. Sometimes, it's the seat attachment to the rails.
