(Apologies if this turns up twice. Tried last night, not here yet, so trying again. Think ISP is
playing up a bit ;-)

Doncha jusluvvit ?
Just paid £25 for an old Raleigh Pursuit 'racer' (£15) and 2 x Compact foldables (fiver each!!). The
racer is near immaculate, just like my existing one, see my previous entries on how I feel about
that one!! One foldable is labelled Hercules Compact and is in original condition, with all that
that implies ;-) - It is actually in quite good condition, having 3 Sturmey Archer gears that still
function perfectly well and a full size saddle bag that covers the whole carrier rack, lengthwise.
Believe it or not (Ripleys ?), it's also got a Brooks saddle - no, not leather but white
plastic....hmmmm, very 70's. My wife has taken a shine to this one and I think it's worth the effort
on bringing it back from the brink. The other foldable is teetering on the edge. It's been repainted
in a very amateur fashion, although may have also been a Hercules also originally as frame /
components are similar, although it's down to one brake (front), no gears (or hub to take any for
that matter!!), lots of surface rust on all chrome (wheels, seat post, handlebar post and
handlebars). I think I'll make this a project bike and see how far I can take it. Single gear. Took
'em all for a spin following inflating the tyres. Racers fine and foldables don't appear to have
anything fatal wrong with 'em (famous last words (tm) ).....noticed cotter pins in foldables. Also
noticed post recently about getting hold of new cotterpins whoo-eey, here we go!!
Any feedback on the foldables would be much appreciated, is it worth making the effort.......( I
know it's personal and if you don't make the effort, then don't expect the satisfaction ;-) Anybody
want a really nice Raleigh Pursuit ?.....do I hear £30....£40....?...(s'black ;-)
Dave. Happy bunny!!
