    1st. Ghent-Wevelgem 1948.

*** Lucian Mazan was better known by his nickname. The one by which he is more
commonly known than by his real surname is ''Petit-Breton''. He was also
referred to in the press of the day as ``l'Argentinian'' since he had some
South American blood. The ``Petit-Breton'' was affectionate; the
``l'Argentinian'' not so complimentary. cf ``l'Autrichienne'' for the
hated (soon to be Headless) Queen the French dethroned a couple of
    centuries ago.
