This is going to sounds ridiculous, but how often do you guys change your handlebar tape?
I have a set of bars on one of my bikes (my go to ride, I sweat all over that thing) that is now on its second season with the same white Fizik tape. It's not THAT discolored yet and I wipe my bars after every ride, I'm just not sure how long it takes for "stuff" to start growing under there and the salt from my hands to start wrecking the bars.
BTW: I sweat like a champ...like a lot
I keep mine on until it wears out or I have to change cables and housings.
I change mine when it gets worn or too dirty, or I want to try a new brand, or I just get bored with the color. Changing bar tape helps keep me excited about my bike and it's a lot cheaper than buying a new one or indulging in senseless and expensive upgrades.
I just tried Lizard Skinz for the first time. It feels great, it's rugged, and it's more expensive that what I'd been using. Looks like I'll be stuck with it for a while.
