  1. This may be a newb question but I want to get a different handlebar for my bike but I have no idea what diameter I need.

I have a Schwinn Hurricane (1995) MTB. Is there a standard diameter I should go with?

    Thanks!

The handlebar needs to fit the stem (the bit that connects it to the bike frame). Given the age of your bike, I'd say you have a 26mm diameter handlebar.

There are standard diameters for handlebars, "standard" is 26mm and "oversized" is 31.8mm. There are some other more unusual sizes, though I think this covers 99% of the market. Just use a tape measure to see which one you have.

Those are road bike standards, he has an MTB.
    Probably 25.4mm
